Salzburg celebrates the 90th anniversary of its world famous Salzburg Festival, taking place from July 25th to August 31st.
For a couple of weeks every summer, the Salzburg Festival celebrates the legacy of Hugo von Hofmannsthal, one of its founders, transforming the whole town into a stage with countless concerts, operas and festive activities.
As per tradition, the grand opening of every Salzburg festival includes a two-day fest, culminating in the stunning “Salzburg Torch Dance”, where 100 couples equipped with fire torches dance around the big fountain at Residenzplatz, creating a magical night full of atmosphere.
From July 17th to October 26th, a special exhibition (“The Big World Theatre”) shows the Salzburg Festival’s rich history, while friends of the art itself should venture to the Salzburg Museum to experience many concert and theatre highlights in impeccable sound and visual quality.
Furthermore you can explore the “Salzburg Festival from A to Z” via a walk-in encyclopedia with “The Whole Town is a Stage” as a main theme. While walking around Salzburg you will explore many places and topics of interest.
You can find the character installations spread out all around Salzburg. Reaching from A like architect over to J like Jedermann up to V like Vision for the future, those installations will grant you access to Salzburg’s history, science and keepsakes and their secret connections.
